the South African weather bureau for the immediate reinstatement of summer in this part of the Southern Hemisphere.
I have no idea what the weather forecasters have been up to since April: snow on the Matroosberg, the Maluti mountain range, the Drakensberg; wind and more wind – icy cold wind I must add – due to the snow on the aforementioned mountains. What have you been thinking? This is Africa – enough with the snow!
This is just a little reminder in case you’ve forgotten: the South Coast of KwaZulu-Natal is supposed to (used to) have a lovely warm, sub-tropical climate. The warm waters of the Indian Oceans lap our shores. Well, the water used to be warm. We used to swim and lie on the beach in June and July, no matter how much the rest of the country shivered in their layered woolies. And here we are, shivering right alongside them for the past five months. What have you been thinking?
I am giving due notice that I want the responsible official to turn that dial all the way up to “summer” before or on 1 September. Or else. No, I don’t know yet what comes after “or else” … just turn that dial. Go on. Do it. NOW!
Stream of Consciousness Saturday is hosted by Linda Hill who provided us with the prompt: Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “notice.” Use it any way you’d like. Enjoy!
