Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “spot.” Write whatever image the word “spot” invokes. Have fun!

With the Coronavirus still on the loose, shopping malls should, strictly speaking, be avoided by the elderly (I’m including myself in this definition), but they offer so many opportunities to have fun – especially these days when all the fun spots are under lockdown. Also, I need to eat. So how can I stay away? I need some fun in my life.
Try the following for comic relief from doom and gloom when visiting your mall:
Stop at every sanitation station. Apply the sanitizer with gusto. Then vigorously rub your hands, all the while muttering under your breath: “Out damned spot! Out I say!”
In the cashier’s queue, practice the moonwalk (Michael Jackson style) in your spot. Or yoga. Yoga is good. But take care to maintain social distancing directives.
Saw a chair in a spot under a fake palm tree in the mall’s coffee plaza yesterday. ‘Twas the only chair available in the area, so I sat down on the floor next to it. Chairs should be left available for the older elderly, in my opinion. I couldn’t get up on my own again, which rather put me on the spot. Had to text my daughter to come and give me a hand.
Seriously now folks, Covid-19 positive cases are on the increase in South Africa and we are encouraged to abide by the regulations put into place by our government. These are not always feasible in all areas and everyone is feeling the strain of being in lockdown for such an extended period of time. We all need a safe spot where we can be free and to relax for a while, but maintaining our humour is also advisable.
Be safe and stay healthy.
