IBMC #10 Happiness is not having all the things I want

Happiness is the ability to dream about those things that I want. Does that sound crazy? Just think of how we dream of the long-awaited summer holiday at the end of each year. Think of how we discuss our holiday arrangements, the things that we are going to do, the presents that we expect to get during the festive season, the family and friends that we will be spending time with.

BUT. Isn’t it true that reality is often a letdown? The weather turns bad, we don’t get the gifts that we were counting on, relationships turn sour – in other words, all our plans turn awry. Yes? Unfortunately, yes. Now, be honest: which part of that holiday did you enjoy the most, looking forward to it or sitting around moping about everything that went wrong?

Fortunately, there is always next year! Soon the excitement and anticipation take over, and we start dreaming again. Happiness is the ability to dream and look forward to next time, next year, the next surprise.

IBMC #10: The Happiness Challenge

I am taking part in the Incredible Blogger Marathon Challenge (IBMC). Prakash Hegade is the event organiser. The IBMC is a series of ten diverse tasks, set to prove the versatility of the participants. Read all my responses to this series here.

{The 10th challenge in this series] –

Welcome to the last task. This one is pretty easy!
“Happiness is … ”

Complete the sentence and grow it. Keep it a maximum of five hundred words or less.

This is the last challenge in the series and today I will claim the IBMC logo for my blog site. I am proud to have completed all the tasks. Successfully? 😄 I will leave it up to you to decide. I want to thank Prakash for the opportunity to compete in this challenge series; you managed to stretch my imagination and I enjoyed each and every task that you set for us.

  1. I agree that anticipation is half the fun. The other side of the coin – when the weather turns bad for example – are the ‘war stories’ about coping with adversity; the stories that see the humour in wind or rain, excessive heat or the unseasonal cold; the tent blowing away or the vehicle getting stuck in the mud – even that totally useless gift you received from the one you expected the most from – are points of humour in retrospect.

  2. Jou deelname was ‘n klinkende sukses – veels geluk, Vasbyter!

Dankie Scrapy.

  4. Happiness is to live life to the fullest, to make the best of every opportunity, but also to know when to say no and to rest when you need it.

  5. Welgedaan Hester 😊

  6. This post is so different from all the ones I have read by far for this challenge.
