WPC A Good Match: Lovers & Soulmates

WPC A Good Match

Fellow tree huggers will agree with me when I say that the best examples of lasting love and harmony are to be found in nature. Birds especially, tend to make a good match when choosing their life partners.

These two little quails wake the whole neighborhood with their shrill cries before dawn every day, to the chagrin of my husband who is a light sleeper. He used to grumble about the noise and hinted that those two pesky birds would end up in the cooking pot, should they keep up the ruckus, and this immediately earned them the nicknames “Lunch” and “Dinner”. After two years of living in our backyard, they are still alive πŸ˜€ and still devoted to each other. This video shows one of them grooming, while the other one is watching as if mesmerized by the beauty of its mate.

The next video of the pair of White-faced Ducks was taken in the TC Robertson Nature Reserve, a 60-hectare strip of land which lies right on the edge of Scottburgh, KwaZulu-Natal on the south bank of the Mapambanyoni River. The pair was grooming each other when a bird started singing in a branch above them. A love song perhaps?

  1. Dis pragtig,veral die nonnetjieseende!

  2. Watter treffende benaming: “nonnetjieseende”.

  3. Lunch en dinner is altyd ‘n goeie match!

  4. Ag dis pragtig

  6. The two ducks are precious! You can see they love each other for ever.

Dis interessant.

      • Dit is erg as mens so daaraan dink.

      • Nee. Julle behoort reg te wees. My voΓ«lboek noem net allerhande Kwartels se name behalwe die Kwazulu Natal een. Toe wonder ek onder watter naam val hulle.
